Welcome to the Hebrew Vocabulary lesson on Numbers! In this lesson, you will learn how to count from 1-100 in Hebrew and understand basic number patterns. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to use numbers in everyday conversation.

Heading Level 2: Basic Numbers[redaktə | mənbəni redaktə et]

Let's start with some basic numbers from 1 to 10:

Hebrew Pronunciation North Azerbaijani
אֶחָד ekhad bir
שְׁנַיִם shnayim iki
שָׁלוֹשׁ shalosh üç
אַרְבָּעָה arba'a dörd
חָמֵשׁ hamesh beş
שֵׁשָׁה shisha altı
שִׁבְעָה shiv'a yedi
שְׁמוֹנָה shmona sekiz
תִּשְׁעָה tish'a dokuz
עֶשְׂרֵה asara on

Here are some tips to help you remember these numbers:

  • אֶחָד (ekhad) sounds like "Ekka," which means "one" in Azerbaijani.
  • שְׁנַיִם (shnayim) sounds like "shnay-IM," which has two parts, just like the number itself.
  • שָׁלוֹשׁ (shalosh) sounds like "shah-LOSH," which rhymes with "galosh," a type of shoe.
  • אַרְבָּעָה (arba'a) has four letters and means "four" in Hebrew.
  • חָמֵשׁ (hamesh) sounds like "hummus," which is a popular Middle Eastern food.
  • שֵׁשָׁה (shisha) sounds like "shisha," which is a type of flavored tobacco that is smoked in a water pipe.
  • שִׁבְעָה (shiv'a) sounds like "sheva," which means "seven" in Azerbaijani.
  • שְׁמוֹנָה (shmona) sounds like "shmo-NAH," which rhymes with "Geronimo."
  • תִּשְׁעָה (tish'a) sounds like "teasha," which sounds like "tea" and "ash."
  • עֶשְׂרֵה (asara) is the Hebrew word for "ten."

Now, let's move on to some bigger numbers:

Heading Level 2: Tens[redaktə | mənbəni redaktə et]

In Hebrew, the tens are formed by adding the word "עֶשְׂרִים" (esrim) after the number. For example, "עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה" (esrim va'arba'a) means "24." Here are the Hebrew words for the tens:

Hebrew Pronunciation North Azerbaijani
עֶשְׂרִים esrim yirmi
שְׁלֹשִׁים shloshim otuz
אַרְבָּעִים arba'im kırk
חֲמִשִּׁים hami'shim elli
שִׁשִּׁים shishi'im altmış
שִׁבְעִים shiv'im yetmiş
שְׁמוֹנִים shmonim seksen
תִּשְׁעִים tish'im doksan

Here are some examples:

  • שְׁלוֹשִׁים וּשְׁתַּיִם (shloshim ushtayim) - "32"
  • חֲמִשִּׁים וְאַרְבָּעָה (hamishim ve'arba'a) - "54"
  • עֶשְׂרִים וָתֵשַׁע (esrim vate'sha) - "29"

Heading Level 2: Hundreds[redaktə | mənbəni redaktə et]

In Hebrew, the hundreds are formed by combining the words for the hundreds, tens, and ones. For example, "מֵאָה עֶשְׂרִים וָחָמֵשׁ" (me'ah esrim va'hamesh) means "125." Here are the Hebrew words for the hundreds:

Hebrew Pronunciation North Azerbaijani
מֵאָה me'ah yüz
מָאתַיִם mata'im iki yüz
שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת shlosh me'ot üç yüz
אַרְבָּע מֵאוֹת arba me'ot dört yüz
חֲמִשִּׁים מֵאוֹת hami'shim me'ot beş yüz

Here are some examples:

  • מָאתַיִם וָעֶשְׂרִים (mata'im va'esrim) - "220"
  • שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת וְעֶשְׂרִים וָאַרְבָּעָה (shlosh me'ot ve'esrim va'arba'a) - "324"
  • חֲמִשִּׁים מֵאוֹת וּשְׁמוֹנִים וְתִשְׁעָה (hamishim me'ot ushmonim vetish'a) - "590"
