Bosnian (bošnjački jezik), is one of the standard varieties of the language called “Serbo-Croatian”. The standardization of Bosnian is relatively recent, having begun after the dismemberment of Yugoslavia. The linguists who work there seek to differentiate its standard from the others, above all by recommending the synonyms of Turkish, Arabic and Persian origin that exist in the language for words of Slavic origin.
