有 (yǒu) can mean "have" in Chinese but is also used to say "there is".

Structure

The verb 有 (yǒu), which means "to have", can also be used to express existence.

There is a similarity to the "there is" in French, and is sometimes used for other purposes.

There's beer there?

  • 日本 有 有 很 多 中国 人.
  • Rìběn yǒu hěnduō Zhōngguó Ren.

  • Zhelǐ yu cuowu.

There is an error here.

There are a lot of puppies at my house.

  • Fángjiān lǐ yǒu liǎng gèrén.

There are two people in the room.

  • 这 个 酒吧 有 有 多 女 女女.
  • Zhè gè jiǔbā yǒu hnduō měinǚ.

There are a lot of pretty girls in this bar bar.

杯子 里 有 什么?

  • Bēizi lǐ yǒu shénme?

Who's in the glass?

  • 我 手机 手机 有 有 <<.
  • Wǒ of shǒujī lǐ yǒu nǐ of hàomǎ.

There is your number in my phone.

  • 现在 超市 里 有 人 吗?
  • Xiànzai chāoshì lǐ yǒu ren ma?

Is there anyone at the supermarket now?
