Central Khmer is the official language of Cambodia and it belongs to the Austroasiatic language family. In this lesson, you will learn the Central Khmer vocabulary for the four seasons and twelve months, including pronunciation and related expressions. Seasons

The four seasons in Central Khmer are:

ពុកមាស pŭk maes Summer
អស្សុជ ʔɑh soou Fall
មិនា miʔ naa Winter
  • Spring is the time of the year when trees turn green and flowers start to bloom. It usually starts in March and ends in May.
  • Summer is the hottest season of the year, and it starts in June and ends in August.
  • Fall is the time for harvest, and the weather starts to cool down. It usually starts in September and ends in November.
  • Winter is the coldest season of the year, and it starts in December and ends in February.

Months

The twelve months in Central Khmer are:

  • Central Khmer months are usually based on the lunar calendar, and each month has either 29 or 30 days.
  • When speaking about a month, the word "ខែ" (khae) is often used after the month's name
