Central Pashto Grammar - Future Tense

In this lesson, we will learn about the future tense in Central Pashto. We will look at how to form the future tense, and how to use it in sentences.

Forming the Future Tense

The future tense in Central Pashto is formed by adding the suffix -a to the verb stem. For example, the verb stem for the verb 'to write' is نوشته (nawsha-). To form the future tense, we add the suffix -a, giving us نوشته ای (nawsha-a-i).

Examples

Central Pashto Pronunciation English Translation
دروغ نوشته ای darugh nawsha-a-i I will lie
بله بگه ای bala bagha-i I will say yes
بیاره ای biyaara-i I will bring
بخونه ای bakhuna-i I will read
بخوره ای bakhura-i I will eat

Using the Future Tense

The future tense is used to talk about actions that will happen in the future. It can also be used to make predictions about the future.
