Coordinating Conjunctions
Coordinating conjunctions are used to join words, phrases, or independent clauses of equal importance in a sentence. They are also known as Fərqli Birləşdiricilər ("different conjunctions") and there are seven of them in North Azerbaijani:
North Azerbaijani | Pronunciation | English |
---|---|---|
və | vuh | and |
amma | uh-muh | but |
lakin | luh-kin | however |
yoxsa | yuhk-suh | or |
və ya | vuh yuh | or |
nəhayət ki | nuh-huh-yet kee | finally |
çünki | choon-kee | because |
Let's look at some examples to see how coordinating conjunctions are used:
- Kitab oxumaq və yazı yazmaq maraqlıdır. (Reading books and writing essays are interesting.)

Correlative Conjunctions
Correlative conjunctions are pairs of conjunctions that work together to join elements in a sentence. They are also known as Qayda Birləşdiriciləri ("rule conjunctions") and there are three pairs of them in North Azerbaijani:
