  • Macedonian has been the official language of North Macedonia since 1991, known as the Republic of Macedonia until 2019. It was one of the official languages ​​of Yugoslavia from 1945 to 1991, where it has two million speakers.
  • Macedonian is also spoken in northwestern Greece, eastern Albania, southwestern Bulgaria in the Strouma and Mesta valleys, as well as by a large diaspora settled in Western Europe, North America.
