As a Korean language teacher with 20 years of experience, I'm excited to introduce you to the Korean Vocabulary related to health and wellness. This lesson will guide you through the Korean terms used to describe symptoms, illnesses, and medical conditions. Learning these essential phrases will allow you to have effective conversations with doctors, pharmacists or when talking to your Korean friends about your health.

Common Illnesses and Symptoms

Here are some common illnesses and symptoms in Korean:

두통 “du-tong” Headache
발열 “bal-yeol” Fever
기침 “gi-chim” Cough
몸살 “mom-sal” Body aches / muscle pain
설사 “seol-sa” Diarrhea

Body Parts

Having the ability to talk about your body parts can help you describe to others where you experience pain or discomfort. Here are some essential body part terms in Korean:

Medical Conditions

It’s important to know how to describe medical conditions in Korean. Here are some terms related to medical conditions:

천식 “cheon-sik” Asthma
당뇨병 “dang-nyo-byeong” Diabetes
고혈압 “go-hyeol-ab” High blood pressure
저혈압 “jeo-hyeol-ab” Low blood pressure

Talking to a Doctor

When at the doctor’s office, you may need to describe your symptoms. Here are some phrases that may come in handy:
