Hi South Azerbaijani learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn about the future tense in South Azerbaijani. We will look at how to form the future tense, as well as some examples of its use.
The future tense is used to talk about actions that will happen in the future. In South Azerbaijani, the future tense is formed by adding the suffix -əcək to the verb stem. For example, the verb "to go" is ged- in the infinitive form. To form the future tense, we add the suffix -əcək, giving us gedəcək.
Let's look at some examples:
South Azerbaijani | Pronunciation | English Translation |
---|---|---|
gedəcək | ge-də-chək | I will go |
yazəcək | yah-zə-chək | He will write |
çalışacaq | chah-lee-shah-chahk | She will work |
görməcək | gur-mə-chək | We will see |
qalacaq | kah-lah-chahk | They will stay |
The future tense can also be used to make predictions about the future. For example:
South Azerbaijani | Pronunciation | English Translation |
---|---|---|
hava yağacaq | hah-vah yah-gah-chahk | It will rain |
qış soğuyaq | keesh soh-goo-yahk | Winter will be cold |
səhər günəş göstərəcək | seh-her guh-nehsh guh-steh-reh-chək | The sun will show in the morning |
günəş batacaq | guh-nehsh bah-tah-chahk | The sun will set |
günəş qar yağacaq | guh-nehsh kahr yah-gah-chahk | It will snow |
The future tense can also be used to express wishes or hopes for the future. For example:
South Azerbaijani | Pronunciation | English Translation |
---|---|---|
mənim arzum olacaq | meh-neem ah-ruhm oh-lah-chahk | My wish will come true |
mənim istəyim gerçəkləşəcək | meh-neem ees-teh-yeem gehr-cheh-kehl-eh-sheh-chək | My desire will be fulfilled |
mənim düşüncəm həyata keçəcək | meh-neem doo-shoon-cheh həh-yah-tah keh-cheh-chək | My thoughts will come to life |
mənim rüyam gerçəkləşəcək | meh-neem roo-yahm gehr-cheh-kehl-eh-sheh-chək | My dream will come true |
mənim hedefim uğurla başa çatacaq | meh-neem heh-deh-feem oo-goor-lah bah-shah chah-tah-chahk | My goal will be achieved successfully |
As you can see, the future tense is a very useful tool for expressing yourself in South Azerbaijani. With practice and dedication, you will soon be able to use it with ease.
